I remember when this was first released as a 12 issue comic book series, both Brian Wood and Larry Young claimed that this wasn’t going to come out as a trade paperback. They changed their minds and now I can actually get around to reading this story. I’ve heard some really great things about it and I’m hoping this will bring back my faith in Brian as a creator of new and exciting works. I’ve got a good feeling about his new stories Local and DMZ but this is where he seems to get back on track after a couple of filler projects. At least that’s how I saw it. High hopes for this one, which is definitely going to get a review when I get through reading it.

MAJESTIC WHILE YOU WERE OUT TP $12.99
Not sure if this is any good, but I do lik Majestic as a character. His last mini-series was pretty good, even though it got cut short. We had great art from both Ed McGuinness (who made his name here before moving onto Superman) and Eric Canete. The story from Casey was surprisingly very good as well. Still doesn’t hold a candle to Alan Moore’s depiction of the character but I digress. This is by Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning with art by Neil Googe, Juan Santacruz and Trevor Scott. I’ll probably flick through this to see whether or not it’s worth a look; what can I say I’m a Wildstorm junkie.

Fantastic comic book series from Viz. It’s all about ninjas and it’s apparently coming to the Cartoon Network at some point in the future. I’ve seen the first 30 episodes and love it to bits. The sheer imagination in this series is what makes it special. If I was 10 years old, I’d want to become a Ninja when I grew old.

TOP COW MARVEL CROSSOVER COLLECTION TP $24.99
Not sure if this is the crossover from the mid-90s. If it is then it’s like 8 years too late for me. There was a time when I used to devour anything from Top Cow as they just really impressed and inspired me into creating better art and interesting characters. Since then I’ve found that a decent story is even more important than the visuals…mostly. Yeah couldn’t find jack shit at the Top Cow website about this. When will comic book companies sort their god damn websites out? I mean seriously.

Grant Morrison doesn’t generally disappoint me as much as perplex me. When the man is ON FIRE, he’s seriously better than anything out there. He’s got a knack for dialogue and he seriously throws some decent curve balls your way. He’s also the master of fucking weird and I’m thinking Vimanarama is going to be nothing short off completely insane. Go read the synopsis over at the Vertigo website.
