Khaled, you have to wipe that Hasslehoff image from your mind. Personally, I prefer to think of it as yet another askew Knight Rider sequel, which takes place after the death of Devon Miles and destruction of KITT. In this sequel, a war-torn Michael Knight (Hasslehoff), who had lost his left eye during a final battle with Garthe Knight, decided to "upgrade" the Foundation for Law and Government (aka FLAG) into the new international organization, Strategic Hazard Intervention, Espionage and Logistics Directorate (aka S.H.I.E.L.D.).

The good news is that Paramount is developing a new Nick Fury film with a tentative 2008 release, and Hasslehoff will not be in it.

ade, I'm curious as to what connections you're drawing between Secret War and Identity Crisis. As far as I'm concerned, there are no similarities between them.

I just bought this, and I loved every single panel of it. The story is one of the deepest I've ever read.

However, I can't seem to get over the fact that "The Twist" was also a major plot point of DC's Identity Crisis.

Which is just as well for me as I've never really liked the charachter as he's portrayed in the Marvel proper universe, I much rather prefer to Samuel L Jackson inspired Nick Fury of the Ultimates Universe. He just looks more hard (added to the fact that I can't get the image of David Hasslehoff as Nick Fury in the TV film they did from a few years back, that was just wrong).

I think that some people where disappointed with the way that Fury's character changed throughout the story. It truly is a departure from the old Nick Fury, but it is an essential and well-crafted step in the character's evolution.

Doesn't it though. I haven't bought this series (although that's probably because I hadn't realised that the hardcover was out). Artwork looks pretty damn sweet. The only complaint I've heard about the story was the ending. James, did the ending actually live up to the rest of the set up?

[...] Secret War, a masterpiece by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Gabriele Dell’Otto, is the best graphic novel ever produced by Marvel Comics. Blinded by diplomacy and arrogance, the United States government refuses to acknowledge the imminent danger as a foreign threat continues to grow. How far will one man go to defend his country? The decisions made, and their consequences, will forever change one of Marvel’s most iconic legends. [...]
