[...] Reading Khaled’s Splash Panel has been one of my more recent enjoyable online endeavors. So when he reviewed the Serenity comic I nearly extinguished a cigarette on myself in sheer ecstasy. It seems that Joss Whedon (creator of Firefly) was actually behind this three issue comic the whole way. Serenity: Those Left Behind is actually a pivotal piece in Firefly lore because it fills the noticeable emptiness between Firefly and the Serenity movie as far as the story was concerned. Oh right, ok makes sense now. Yeah the Book scene was the only one that didn’t ring true to be honest, but I’ve already said that. I think part of the reason for enjoying it so much is because the series ended before it had really begun and there is honestly waay to many stories that they could have told and didn’t with only the comic books as the honest viable option to tell those stories…Dark Horse could be onto something HUGE.

I mean I didn’t buy into the Book explanation. I purchased the comic! Ahh!

I think the main reason I enjoyed reading Serenity is because I love the whole Firefly Universe so much. Objectively speaking, however, it leaves me wanting a lot more.

You read this in the store? For shame . That’s a pretty conflicted view man, you enjoyed yourself reading it but didn’t enjoy the actual book, how is that even possible???

I didn’t buy it, didn’t really do it for me. I’m probably going to write a review up myself but I felt a lot of the conversation was forced. I was pretty disappointed with a lot of it, but I really did enjoy myself when I was reading it. Probably because I feel obligated to support Whedon to the bitter end!

Ahhh! It was too short! The artwork was amazing though, definately a great read!
