I just wanted to take the time to reiterate how awesome Vertigo was. It may not be the "best" publisher (aside from that being strictly opinion, they're kind of hit or miss), but when they're on, they're definitely on.

Khaled's covered all the big names, but some other great vertigo titles are "Y, the Last Man", "Bite Club", "Lone Wolf & Cub", "Lucifer (a Sandman spinoff)", "Hellblazer" and "Invisibles".

As far as I can tell from the interviews I've read there is not chance of another x-men movie with the same cast, as they would be too expensive, which is why they're thinking of spin off movies, to continue milking the cow :). No smoke on my end :).

As for Vertigo, they're the best publisher after maybe wildstorm. Here's a couple of reviews:
http://splashpanel.com/archives/fables-volume-1-legends-in-exile/
http://splashpanel.com/archives/100-bullets-first-shot-last-call/
http://splashpanel.com/archives/v-for-vendetta/

I've got a slew of new Vertigo reviews coming out, Preacher, Transmetropolitan and Sandman etc. Definitely worth checking out. You'll be kicking yourself why you didn't jump before :).

Last one?? Khaled, I thought you're blog was about graphic novels, not about you smoking weed and THEN writing comments...

(That made no sense. I need to lay off the rum.)

... there will be more crap-quils of this perverted franchise. X-Men died long ago in comic book form and just suffered the same fate in movie form. It's sickening and I wish there was a way to salvage the damage, but what's done is done.

Barry, that's true, we didn't see the death, and if they want they can bring him back, hell they can bring back anyone they want. But seeing as this is the last one they've got all the characters down as a contract, with only a few of the actors keen on anything resembling a spin off series, it's effectively the death of many of these characters really...at least we can hope eh :).

I hate to be the bearer or bad news, but there's no way Cyclops is dead. Not only did we not see the body, but we didn't even get a proper flashback retelling his death via Phoenix.

#1 rule of comics is: if we didn't SEE it happen, it didn't happen.

#2 rule of comics has something to do with clever ways of explaining away the things we DID see happen so that they can get the shock value right away, without having to actually make any sacrifices to make it work.

Aside from the bastardization of the Phoenix saga though, I'll have to say that X3 was alright, and I agree mostly with the review. I definitely agree about Brett Ratner's performance as director, right along with you.

I think that the thing I'm surprised most about was how bad (I thought) X1 was, and how they effectively saved the franchise with part 2, and how I expected part 3 to be a continuation of that success. In the aftermath of Batman Begins, comic movies really have to up their game if they want us to come back for the innumerous sequels they'll invariably produce.
